2020 Tea Ceremony – Hagi School
We have done the 2nd event (tea ceremony) of the New Year.
Those students who would wear Kimono got up earlier than usual to do makeup and fix their hair.
They looked very happy in their Kimono and took pictures of each other.
They loved Kimono. So it seemed that they didn’t want to change from Kimono to their clothes.
They learned Japanese tea ceremony etiquette, then had a cup of matcha and a sweet Japanese confection.
Some of the students who drunk matcha for the first time said it was delicious, the other said it was bitter.
It seemed that sitting in Seiza (Japanese way of sitting) was difficult for them. But they tried many times. I hope they will get used to it.
Thank you for those students who helped us for preparing the tea ceremony. The first year students seemed to be looking forward to wearing kimonos next year.
They learned new things about Japanese culture and it was a fruitful time.
